The Lyrics

See the pool that's full of goo
That's something relatively new
Where'd Bobby go?
Coincidence that it appeared
The day that Honey disappeared
Not long ago.

They went down to the corner bar
To sing and play her guitar
For happy hour
He laughed and sang of funny clowns
While stiff drinks were flowing down
The notes were sour.

He was always out of step
Saccharine and so inept
And tres naive
He surprised her with a puppy
Kept her cleaning up pee
All Christmas Eve.

There was some bone of contention
I almost forgot to mention
This I know
She'd be staying up on Sunday's
Listening to song parodies
On Demento.

So what transpired?
Your following grew
You were uninspired
Lost intrest in you.

He drove her bike and smashed it up
Was so afraid she'd be ticked up
Yet what the heck
He saw through her and laughed out loud
She laughed 'till she almost howled
Then wrung his neck.

He came home unexpectedly
And heard her laugh hysterically
She was with some guy
She left the house and took the jewels
On the day of April fools
She went bye bye.

And, Bobby, what happened?
Where did Honey go?
Did your career upend?
Did your money blow?

One day after a sellout show
When he came home from Branson, MO
Some bikers came
Rode off with Honey on their Harleys
Left Bobby there with no darlin'
Just last year's fame.

Some say a shot flew overhead
And knocked him in the cactus bed
That Honey loved
Then all the sap poured out of him
Till there was nothing left of him
But flies above.

So, see the pit it's full of slush
That's left of Bobby and his mush
There's no more
He thought his treacly odes were sunny
That was not the view of Honey
He was a bore...

What's all this then?
2Eagle - April 04, 2018 - Report this comment
Tommy, a certain newspaper columnist once wrote that this song would be more palatable if the angels that came for Honey were Hells Angels -and Bobby should have bored a hole in himself and let out all the sap.

am I the only one who likes the OS? fine, call me a sap! (I've been called worse!) regardless, nice dark humor twist on it. 5s

Now say, "Gotcha!". I suppose you like getting fruitcake for Christmas, also. So I found someone who actually likes the OS. Judging from a survey taken by a certain columnist everybody knows that song and hates it.

It took me almost a year to come this. Much better than the original.
