Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A little "Day the Earth Stood Still" tribute
Little earthlings
Our instruments have seen the fallout
Little earthlings
You've had that atom bomb for years

There goes the sun
There goes the sun
It's so bright

Little earthlings
You're one step from a nuclear winter
Little earthlings
We've watched your squabbles through the years

There goes your sun
There goes your sun
It's so bright

Sun sun sun there it goes
Sun sun sun there it blows
Sun sun sun say goodbye
Sun sun sun now please die

Little earthlings
It's just too bad you had potential
Little earthlings
But what you'd do was very clear

There went the sun
There went the sun
There's no light

Rick - Good job - 5's from me. OK, now I remember Michael Rennie as the lead Alien, and he had this very efficient Metallic Man Friday, but I don't remember the robot's name (I think he had one). I sort of remember "Klatu"? or was that part of a phrase in the alien's language?

Klaatu...that was his name. There was a band that took it as their name also. One of the many great things about this film was the performance by the kid. In an age of overamped child performances, his was very natural. The film also featured probably the first score use of the theramin.

Johnnie, you are correct sir. And I just remembered they made fun of that line in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead Three (had a different title) where Ash (Bruce Campbell) gets the line wrong and unleashes even more evil.

Johnny D - Whoa! I'm seriously impressed that you could remember that! Didn't that mean "get me the hell offa this crazy planet, these earthling folks are freakin' nuts, not to mention extremely violent"? You know, I really liked that movie a lot. By today's standards the "Special Effects" they did were absolutely puny, but they were enough at the time to make the story work and more importantly, they augmented rather than overwhelming the story-telling aspects of the film. Wasn't that movie from around 1950 or maybe a couple years later? Rick - "The Evil Dead" -eeww, I saw some of one of those movies late one night and it was seriously creepy.
