Original Song Title:

"Blue Spanish Eyes"

Original Performer:

Al Martino

Parody Song Title:

"Ooh, Spanish Fly"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

"Ooh, Spanish Fly, here pop some phallus-frothing Spanish Fly."
Pleased, pleased I'll try, nipping an added dose--it's hot and dry.
Soon I'll be firm, waiting for all the hardness to take hold.
Police say, "Seize, seize!" if they catch you with banished cantharides.

Ooh, Spanish Fly, let's take a flier and give sex a go.
Too, Spanish Fly, much did I take. . .an exponential grow.
Soon I'll return to firmness, I hope, not too large to hold.
Please, stay, cease, cease! I now ken* why they've banished cantharides.

Too much of Spanish Fly--can't bear it! Cease!

Intriguing and as usual, John, verbally facile! I had to look it up to see if it really was a "fly" derivative...close, but it's actually a powder derived from crushed carcases of certain emerald green beetlesin the family Meloidae. The following is from Wikipedia: "Spanish fly, or cantharides as it is sometimes called, is often given to farm animals to incite them to mating.[3] The cantharides excreted in the urine irritate the urethral passages, causing inflammation in the genitals and subsequent priapism. For this reason, Spanish fly has been given to humans for purposes of seduction. It is dangerous since the amount required is minuscule and the difference between the effective dose and the harmful dose is quite narrow. Cantharides cause painful urination, fever, and sometimes bloody discharge. They can cause permanent damage to the kidneys and genitals." (sounds like something to try, AFTER you've started dialysis!)
