The Lyrics

Kids back in the eighties stayed home all day
We'd Breakout the Atari, for hours we played
And every week on Friday
We'd all hit the arcade

Tried to cross the street in Frogger
Got hit by a car
Missed the vine in Pitfall
And Harry fell far
Ghost got me in Pac Man
That will leave a scar

With another life
Would have cleared that board
Eaten all the ghosts and
All the fruits that I ignored

With another life
Space I would invade
And I wish I could pay
Quarters and live at the arcade
The games I used to play

I was Mario you were my Donkey Kong
When you hit me with a barrel, it felt so wrong
Got pumped to play Dig Dug
You blew my pooka up (Whoa)

Maybe I should play some new RPGs
Since I like golf, try Golden Tee
But newer games don't have a
Leg up on Centipede

But with another life
I'd get that high score
Defend Earth from Asteroids
And I would save the world

With another life
Tempest turns to rage
Now you'll feel my Rampage
Cause there is nothing out today
The games I used to play
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes
The games I used to play

Modern games are not like that, just isn't so (Nooooo)
Cause when you die you just hit reload (lo-o-oad)
Or go online and find the right cheat code (co-o-ode)
Now you're invincible

With another life
In a cartoon world
Take out Singe the Dragon and
At last I'd get the girl

With another life
At Missile Command
With joystick in my hand
I'll save the planet if I can
The games I used to play
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes
The ga-a-a-a-a-mes

With another life
At ten thousand points
I'd get an extra man
You know they never disappoint
The games I used to play

This was a great classic video game parody! Even though I'm just barely out of college I would much rather play these classic games than the new garbage that's released today. Maybe I'm bitter because my parents never bought me a 360, PS2 or a Wii... Maybe I'm retro... Maybe I really like this parody. Whatever the reason this was great!

Wonder if my brother still has that Commodore 64? Yes, those games are part of the common memory of the Generation X. Fives.

Excellent to see Rampage, Frogger, Dig Dug and Donkey Kong in there. no PAPER BOY, though? I'm happy you did this. I can't listen to the OS at work, but I'm already a fan and I look forward to appreciating this more fully in the upcoming SOTM

I still have a working Atari 2600 game console and it used to keep my nephews fascinated for hours. My all-time favorite game is Megamania. Great parody!

Came back with the song and I appreciate this even more now. I VERY recently was taken to a bar/old school arcade for my birthday in Brooklyn called BARCADE. You'd love it if you're ever in the New York area. They have 'almost' all of the arcade versions of the games you mentioned, and I got decently far in Dig Dug and made some rocks fall, which made me happy, as does this parody.

(SOTM) Loved this! You listed some of my favorite classic arcade games! (Dig Dug and Pac-Man especially) Hilarious parody! This reminded of a new movie Pixar has coming out called "Wreck-It Ralph" about an old arcade game character. Check out the trailer, it has a few cameos in it I know you'll love! 555 old school arcade games for you!

(SOTM) I never grew up with the 8-bit/16-bit games, but I still really enjoyed this parody. The only thing I found bad here was that Blaydeman thinks Wreck-It Ralph is Pixar, when it's Disney. 555 1-UP's!

Disney owns Pixar so he's technically right but yeah it's being released by Disney Animation Studios not the Pixar Studios. Although with the Computer Graphics they used he's excused to think it's Pixar. At least he didn't say Dreamworks (although because of the subject matter, I would also excuse that).

Great work here! The pacing was spot on and I loved the "With another life..." sub, 555 extra lives for you.
