The Lyrics

Has there ever been a moment when someone tries to subtly find out why someone's feeling bad and it doesn't blow up in everyone's faces? Not to my knowledge. So here's a little endorsement of just getting to the goddamn point!
Kinda wishin' that my ass was able, able, able
To disguise just why I came here, 'fraid so, 'fraid so, yeah-eah
Not one for deep machinations, not my forte, I talk plain
Least this means we can stay on the level, level

I want you to explain the reason why you're sat here poutin'
Yes, I mean to pry
Don't wanna evade the main question, that's just wastin' hours
Yes, I mean to pry, hope that's alright
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a
Hoo-ooh-ooh, yeah-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee

Never fond of that tedious nonsense, nonsense, nonsense
TV shows love to pull, that's a hard skip, hard skip, yeah-yeah
Pussyfoot around the issue, higher chance than usual
That we misunderstand, that's a hard skip, hard skip

Actin' like this is strange, like life needs more time to pad out with
No, I mean to pry
I'm makin' it plain (ee-ee), quicker it's done, less you'll be a downer
So I mean to pry, hope that's alright
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a

Ooh-ooh, buddy, look at us, it turns out that we're able to simply level
Ooh, buddy, look at us, ev'rybody is able to simply level
Ooh-ooh, buddy, look at us, so sad some folks aren't able to simply level
Ooh, buddy, look at us, we all need to be able to simply level
Ooh-ooh, buddy, look

Whether you have deep pain or trivial what's got you poutin' (hoo-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
Said I mean to pry (mean to pry)
If you need your space (ee-ee), I'll accept that, still at least it's out there (got to say)
That I (I) mean to pry (mean to pry), hope that's alright
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na (na-na-na-na-na-a), na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a (na-na-na-na-na-a)
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na (ayy-ee-yeah-ee-yeah), na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na (na-na-na-na-a), na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a (yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah-eah)
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na (ayy-ayy-ayy-ee-yeah-ee-ee), na-na-na-na-na-na-na-a

Surprised that "forte" doesn't have an accent over the "e" like in "cliché" or "Pokémon". Then again, English can't be bothered to be consistent with itself, why do that with all the words it's picked up rifling through other languages' pockets?

Hey bobpiecheese, this was good.

forte vs forté might be an America vs Australian issue. I myself pronounce it FOR-tay. Others can chime in on how they pronounce it. Since the word does not appear in OS, I gather that either your spell-check ratted you out, or that you took the initiative to look it up to make sure. I believe (which probably means I am wrong) that forte is of Latin origin, not Italian, though we probably borrowed it into English as a musical synonym for loud. As for the parody itself, Great job. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The structure flawless. Thank you for sharing it. The one thing I'll share in the spirit of constructive criticism is the spirit of your parody might too closely resemble that of the OS, notwithstanding the lyrics are 100% original. Both the OS and the parody aim to magnify the resolutions of tensions between two people who are important to each other. Sometimes that would be a nitpick, but other times it could disqualify a parody from being judged transformative - that is, is the parody really a separate artistic creation? Thank you for another amazing parody?

Thanks for the comment Glenn (and Duc too, I guess). I always check the spelling of words I'm unsure about, especially due to the American-Australian divide (you'd think that setting my internet dictionary to Australian would fix that but it didn't believe "echidna" was a word, so...). I'll be honest, I don't usually take into consideration what the original song was about when I parody it (unless the parody is about how I don't like the song), so the closeness was unintentional. One could still consider it transformative if one contrasts the overly dramatic language of the original to the bluntness that I was going for. Maybe? I dunno. Thanks again!
