The Lyrics

Even now I'm still not a fan of that "she-devil" Taylor Swift, but here's a parody of one of her very first hits, about a guy driving on U.S. Route 15 en route to Washington, D.C.
I take a deep breath as I hit the exit ramp
It’s the hundredth time I’ve been down this way
Going down to Washington for the first time in a while
I’m glad I didn’t go the other way
For the first time this year, I find myself here
For the next 60 miles toward Frederick
Hoping one guy in the Ford will let me into his lane
And say, “I’ve never been to Gettysburg before”
‘Cause I’m on U.S. 15 and somebody tells me
To watch for highway truckers
You’re going to need some Aleve now
And when you’re on 15
Feeling you have the route to DC figured out
I’ll count to 10 and take it in
At least I know where I’m going to be
U.S. 15
I drive on through to a place called Emmitsburg
And a mile later, the freeway ends
I’m driving through the mountains here
I’ll be on 270 as fast as I can
I’m almost halfway to Frederick, just driving in my car
When I hit bumps, I’m flying
It’s been more than 60 miles since I got off 581
I’m heading toward 270 near where 340 ends
Where Route 340 ends
‘Cause I’m on U.S. 15 and somebody tells me I’m out of gas
And I’m going to have to fill up now
I’m on 15 and if I crash, it’ll
Make my head spin around but
I really want to do marketing for a NASCAR team
But I can’t do that on Route 15
All I wanted was to drive to Washington
I wish I could turn back and tell myself I made a wrong turn
Back then I swore I was going to Maryland someday
But I’m going to realize bigger dreams of mine
And in Emmitsburg my friend lost everything
At the convenience store and even started to cry
I was just on 15 and somebody asked me where I was going
I told him I wasn’t going to believe him
And when I’m on Route 15, I won’t forget to look before I make a turn
I’ve found that time can heal almost anything
I just might find who I’m supposed to be
Just driving down through Maryland on 15
(J.C.: Please don’t screw this up)
Please don’t screw this up.
Please don’t miss this turn.
I’m at I-270
I’ll take a deep breath now
I’ll take a deep breath as I head toward D.C.

Thanks, Rob! At least I don't have to pay tolls between Phillipsburg, NJ and Washington, DC.
