The Lyrics

We're studying poetry in English and I hate it, so I wrote this parody, hope you enjoy it... I like Natasha Bedingfield too, so fans, don't get mad at me. Enjoy!
(From my mind)

These words are my own

Threw some words together
Damn, I'm so gonna get an F!
Poetry's what, I gotta do
And now I've gotta lay it down for you
Try to think of something to write
But I feel so retarded
I need some help, some inspiration
(But it's not coming easily!)

Whoah oh...
Trying to get my work done
Whoah oh...
Poetry is not fun
Whoah oh...
Don't you know (whoah oh), don't you know, don't you know
Whoah oh...
Floor covered with paper
Poetry, see you later

[CHORUS:]
These words are my own
From my mind flow
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this
There's no other way
To better say
I hate this, I hate this...

Read some Shakespeare, Carroll and Keats
Recited it over in different beats
I'm having trouble writing this damn thing
With dead poets and drum machines
I know I can't just forget about this
But I'm wishing it didn't exist
Maybe my writer's block will let up
None of my poems are ever good enough

[CHORUS:]
These words are my own
From my mind flow
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this
There's no other way
To better say
I hate this, I hate this...
These words are my own
From my mind flow
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this
There's no other way
To better say
I hate this, I hate this...

I'm getting desperate
Poetry's what I hate
No excuses to hide behind
My empty mind exposes

I hate this...
I hate this...
(From my mind)
Whoah oh whoah oh whoah oh whoah oh
Whoah!

Whoah oh...
Trying to get my work done
Whoah oh...
Poetry is not fun
Whoah oh...
Don't you know (whoah oh), don't you know, don't you know
Whoah oh...
Floor covered with paper
Poetry, see you later

[CHORUS:]
These words are my own
From my mind flow
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this
There's no other way
To better say
I hate this, I hate this...

These words are my own
From my mind flow
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this
There's no other way
To better say
I hate this, I hate this...

These words are my own
They're from my mind (from my mind)
I hate this, I hate this
That's all I got to say,
Can't think of a better way,
And that's all I've got to say,
I hate this, is that okay?

How can you hate poetry when you write song parodies? There may be a little of the poet in you yet.

Good point, Yoidy. But I don't know, parodies come more easily because I write when I want and when I actually have something to say. Even then, I usually have to use a rhyming dictionary to help me out!
