The Lyrics

This is satire.
I don't go to church Sundays
Holy Mass I just shrug off
During a wedding I just fake it
Skip the wine and bread, just walk

But comes up Ash Wednesday, when
All my church friends take their stand
They brag of fasts and no indulging
Until it is Good Friday again
Man, those rites are complicated
Must find my contrition
To avoid confession

Can you help me this Lent?
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get cleansed up for heaven
From living in sin
So what now do you suggest
I give up for Lent?

So I'll take a leap, not too deep
Which indulgence to drop off?
Let me re-examine all my needs
I guess I smoke and drink a lot
Computer screen is getting faded
From pornos I skim
To the Recycle Bin!

Can you help me at Lent?
I'm so scared that I never will make it to heaven
From living in sin
At least, to my Facebook friends
What to give up for Lent?

Stop eating meat?...No, that is too tough
I could just give up pizzas
Or just cut coffee--stick to hot tea
Until I'm completely without sin

Shouldn't eat so many bagels
Have yogurt instead
Just top of my head
I'm cutting back now for Lent
I'm so proud to be clever
I will forgo my leather
Less DVD spins
And when the Lent season ends
I will never forgo them
Then I'll just go bingeing
Just indulge all again

But this is just me at Lent
All this fasting's a beaster
All just before Easter
Yeah such complication
All of my affectations
When it comes to... Lent

Spot on! Topical and funny, the pacing could have been a little tighter in some spots, but overall this was a great spoof!

Indeed, very funny Agri. Great title sub, and well done throughout. Reminded me of my grandfather. He would always give up something he never did for lent. One year was bare-knuckle boxing. Another it was skydiving :cD

(Artistry) So Lent is like a New Year's resolution except there's actually some pressure to stick by it? Alrighty, then. A few pacing issues, like Abbott said, but otherwise this was a solid parody. 555 hot cross buns!

I've had this idea for this song in my head before. Great job with it, great timing. I really enjoyed this one.

Not easy to fulfill unless you try to go with a cheap one :)

Fun religious parody which is a hit or miss and can cause a lot of controversy like political parodies but although you made fun of Lent which is something very stupid, I agree with you that I need by meat on Fridays.
