Song Parodies -> "Repressed"

Original Song Title:

"Obsessed"

Original Performer:

Mariah Carey

Parody Song Title:

"Repressed"

Parody Written by:

Blaydeman

The Lyrics

I got this idea from watching "Monty Python and The Holy Grail". I know what you're thinking, "Uh! Another Monty Python parody from Blaydeman!" But no worries! This song is not about the movie, it was just the inspiration. It's actually about a king who gets his rocks off by torturing people in his kingdom. He thinks he's the greatest king that ever lived.
[King]

Intro: And I decree, you’ll all be repressed by me
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O…

Verse 1: All out on my land
People are farming my crops
And I ain’t lettin’, laborin’ stop
Decree that I am your king
Eating quail, you get slop
Cuz you are a serf, and I’m king of this Earth
Accumulate girth, divine right birth
And all you serfs don’t amount to my worth
It must be the grog, it must be this feast
Cuz buttons poppin’ off, and they ain’t stoppin’
Oh!

Chorus: You are all repressed by me
Go and fetch my crown!
Peasants are impressed with me
Hold all the common down!
It’s clear that I’ve oppressed all thee
Oh!
Finally have the throne I was born to posses
Best king in the world, just ask my subjects

[Commoners]

Bridge: You’re delusional! You’re delusional!
Liege you’re losing your mind!
You’re abusing us, you’ve abused, you know
Why you running our lives!?
Got you all fired up with your Napoleon complex
Hopin’ you get the Plague or maybe just an abscess

[King]

Oh, oh, oh-oh
Hook: Well, that’s why you’re repressed by me!
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O… (Well I’m your master see?!)
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O… (And all the peasants say…)
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!

Verse 2: Up in my keep, I’m schemin’ hard
Ain’t gon’ feed you, Ima let you starve
Famine has struck, Mid Age food hassle
There’s no food left, ‘cept in my castle
Ruling the world’s such hard business
So off with your head, while they all witness
You’re a serf and slave, I know divination
I’m the upper class, with high education

Oh!

Chorus: You are all repressed by me
Go and fetch my crown!
Peasants are impressed with me
Hold all the common down!
It’s clear that I’ve oppressed all thee
Oh!
Finally have the throne I was born to posses
Best king in the world, just ask my subjects

[Commoners]

Bridge: You’re delusional! You’re delusional!
Lord you’re losing your mind
Not amusing no, you’re amused, you know
Sir we’re dead by age nine
Got you all fired up with your Napoleon complex
Hopin’ you get the Plague or maybe just an abscess

[King]

Oh, oh, oh-oh

Hook: Well, that’s why you’re repressed by me!
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O… (Well I’m your master see?!)
So O… O… O…
So O… O… O… (And all the peasants say…)
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-repressed!

Oh! Hey!

Chorus: You are all repressed by me
Go and fetch my crown!
Peasants are impressed with me
Hold all the common down!
It’s clear that I’ve oppressed all thee
Oh!
Finally have the throne I was born to posses
Best king in the world, just ask my subjects

[Commoners]

Bridge: You’re delusional! You’re delusional!
Liege you’re losing your mind!
You’re abusing us, you’ve abused, you know

Not bad. Fun OS but I've never actually seen "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"... I know Shock and Terror! Still this was pretty funny from what I was able to decipher.

Serf's up!

I hate to say it, this was not your best effort. Too much of the OS key lines were in your parody, and was repeated too often. A good idea, but not given enough work here.

(Artistry) So I was shopping for beer the other day and came upon "Monty Python's Holy Ale". I have a bottle chilling in the fridge. Sounds like you're gonna have to fight it out with COP for the Supreme Ruler gig.

(Artistry) This was an okay parody, my problems with it are the same as Agrimorfee. This could've been great, but as is it's just okay. And really, what kind of king is chosen by some watery tart throwing swords anyway?
Below Average Dave - December 06, 2011 - Report this comment
Watery tart throwing swords chose kings all the time, I mean, I think so. . .anyway, I also have never seen Monty Python, so I don't know about the inspiration, but for me it was just a strange parody, the Original Song wasn't really turned on itself as well as it could have been, it wasn't horrible, but not my favorite BM parody.
