Seinfeld has jumped the shark
The King Of Queens can never last
Maybe I’ll
spend some time with Friends

Like my wife who’d
beat me there,
“Whoa” I cried “look AT that hair”
“Baby, that’s
Rachel Green from Friends”

Heart starts to thump again
I’ve been here before
Think I’m in love again,
with THIS cute girl-next-door

As I’m
napping on the couch
I somehow still
implore out loud,
“Wake me up,
when she comes on Friends”

Seasons have
come and passed
but Ross and Rach are STILL apart!
Why oh why?
Noone comprehends!

Chandler and
Monica
love each other, blah blah blah
Why can’t Ross
and Rachel move past friends?

Here comes the final show
what the f*** oh no!
Ross mate, your bird has flown
Go and claim her, bro!

Ross flies down the free-way
and catches Rach at JFK
Maybe here’s
where the story ends?

[uh oh, unexpectedly ominous guitars]

No,
I had not foreseen
that Brad and Ange meet Rachel Green
Rachel’s life
heads in a downtrend

Like the other
girls-next-door
Rachel Green, forever more,
stays the one
we defend on Friends

Maybe she’ll
get to wed again

Maybe she’ll
get a pet instead

Never seen a single episode of "Friends" but I liked your references to Seinfeld + King of Queens plus Rachel Green was a clever twist on the Green subject.

It's kinda strange that she hasn't had a movie career to speak of after Friends, at least no blockbusters that comes to my mind off the bat - did she wait too long, or did she reject Harvey Weinstein one has to wonder.

As for the parody captures the feel of the original in spades.

Feeling compelled to address the comments above me first....WHAT?!? Matthias has never seen an episode? My 20 year old daughter has seen Friends, what the hell is your excuse? And it sounds like Peter needs to see, like, Horrible Bosses and We're The Millers, and I'm pretty sure there's other stuff too but I'm getting into that Irish spirit a bit early if you catch my drift so yeah - anyway. Agree it was a clever way to fulfill the "green" requirement - overall fun and pleasant but by far my favorite part was the "unexpectedly ominous guitars" - awesome! Feeling a little cheated you only did one this time though

It's okay, I've never seen Friends either. And thanks to this, I don't have to!

Sorry to burst your bubble, Claude - along with Matthias and WBMJ, neither have I! And although half a world away, and without having asked her, I will bet Stuart's house and give back his beloved Tigers' Premiership Flag if Meriadoc was to say any differently from her perspective! In fact, WBMJ's comment sort of summed up my thoughts as well! Having just given Claude his second or third coronary for today, I turn to the parody itself. Stuart: I thought the pacing was spot on. I enjoyed the read and the story it told. It's not that I am unaware of the show, I picked enough up from the endless adverts. But I thought the parody told of Rachel's dilemma, or was that Ross' dilemma very well. Hang on! Or having re-read, maybe it was Stuart's dilemma! ;)

I'm not gonna weigh in on the great Friends debate... I've seen more episodes then I'd like to admit. Having said that, I have a bone to pick, McArthur: no mention of the infamous Aniston nipplage? That always woke ME up! Great stuff. 556

I like the thinking outside of the box to connect to Friends as well. Loved the show...love Seinfeld and King Of Queens too! Loved the song...and loved the hair, my wife still talks about going old school and getting the "Rachel" haircut.

This American idiot's totally slugging down your awesome Verse Atilla™ tea, Stu. Great job!

I always found Anniston to be quite attractive...and her dramatic turn in The Good Girl is worth watching. That being said, I have watched like two episodes of Friends and have zero understanding of what people see in it. I didn't even remember her character was Rachel. You aint missing much Matty. But the parody itself was funny, Claude.

^^I mean Stu!!

She was on every episode. Even when she and Ross were on a break.

Thanks Matty - on a sitcom scale where Seinfeld is 10 and Different Strokes 0, I'd put Friends in at 7. One ep though was one of the funniest sitcom eps I've ever seen on TV

Thanks Pete - yes I was trying for the original feel - it reads well against the OS - her serious movie roles were quite good, although she def has comedic timing and sense. She was the outright star of Friends I thought

Thanks Claude, my kids too - and yep, when Ange gets involved things always get deliciously darker.

thanks wannabe, this does put it in a nutshell - Rach and Ross on, Rach and Ross off, Rach and Ross on, finito.

hey Pippin, don't go taking the Richmond flag's name in vain my northern friend - and no, not my dilemma, I was always firmly in Team Ange, but Rachel in the final seasons of Friends was very funny

Ta Kristof - hard to find a rhyme for nipplage, although that is no excuse, you're right - it should've gotten in there

Thanks Jeff. I'm a huge fan of Seinfeld - the show just gets better with age - I reckon I'm word perfect on at least 50 episodes. It never has or never will jump the shark - I plead parodists' licence because the first line just scanned too well against the OS to rewrite, despite it breaking my heart - the Rachel haircut meh, but the lesser-hallowed later-episodes straight haircut - wow!

Thanks TJC, nice punwork

I agree Ag, The Good Girl was a great film, and she did another heisty film that was good too.

The "on-a-break" running gag was the essence of Friends humour - recognisable common problems put under the comedic microscope

Is "RT" a universal term for nipping out? Or just where I'm from? In fact, is "nipping out" a universal term for nipping out? Hmm. In any event, to my friends, Friends wasn't just "Must-See TV" (remember that?), it was "Must-See RT." It's one of the few sitcoms I've seen most of the episodes of. And would be happy re-watch. And not just for the RT. In fact, I know a couple who went on vacation to Cancun and took the entire run of Friends on DVD with them. On vacation. To Cancun. I s*** you not. But, oh, hey, Stuart, I'm waking you up (get it?) for the part of the comment that's about you: Stellar work as always, with bonus points for a "Green" theme that occurred to noone else. (No one else? I don't noone way or the other.)
