The Lyrics

For a project I had to change a song's lyrics to match the plot line of the book "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. I chose the song Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Greenday and changed it to Farmers of Broken Dreams. Enjoy.
I ride a lonely train.
Through the brush and empty fields with pain.
Going away from Weed.
So it’s home to me and I ride with Lennie.

I work this futile field.
On this hopeless farm of broken dreams.
Where the ranch hands sleep.
And I’m the only one and I work with Lennie.

I work with Lennie. I work with Lennie.

I work with Lennie. I work with L…

Lennie’s the only one that works beside me.
Rabbits are the only thing that he’s thinking.
Sometimes I wish opportunity would find me.
‘Til then I live with Lennie.

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I cared for him all my life.
And now he had to kill Curley’s wife.
Now I’m at the brush.
And I see he’s alive so I approach him.

I gave him some hell.
As I went blah blah blah but all ain’t well.
He asks about rabbits.
And now I know for sure that he’s Lennie.

I live with Lennie. I live with Lennie.
I live with Lennie. I live with L…

Lennie’s the only one that works beside me.
Rabbits are the only thing that he is thinking.
Sometimes I wish opportunity would find me.
‘Til then I live with Lennie.

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I live with Lennie. I live with L…

Lennie now looks away.
It’ll be over with these aches and pains.
I point my gun to his head.
As I stare at his body that’s now dead.

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...
