The Lyrics

...um...hi. I'm Steve and I love comedy. I've been doing a few parodies for a while now (I turned the whole first Franz Ferdinand album into songs about "Robot Wars" for one of my boards last year) but this is my first submission to a wide audience, so hope I it goes down well. =)
Now, unlike some, I can sort of tolerate Green Day. Sort of. However, this song has been played to death and the video for it (with its painfully slow cinematic scenes with that annoying teen couple) is just plain silly to me. Read on and see what I mean...
*acoustic guitar*

Someone change channels fast!
This video's longer than Math class
Wake me up when this number ends
Its slowness is unsurpassed
Seven years seem way more fast
Wake me up when this number ends

Stops every now and then
To watch some couple spar
Slo-mo's so lame, that then
I require C.P.R.

As my cranium protests
The war to not doze off is lost
Wake me up when this number ends

*enter drums and electric guitar*

Someone change channels fast!
This video's longer than Math class
Wake me up when this number ends
Hey, he sang that again
Oh God, we're back where we began
Wake me up when this number ends

Here comes the refrain again
Deafening guitars
Ears are in pain again
How'd I survive this far?

As my cranium protests
The war to not doze off is lost
Wake me up when this number ends

*guitar solo*

Someone change channels fast!
This video's longer than Math class
Wake me up when this number ends
Its slowness is unsurpassed
Seven years seem way more fast
Wake me up when this number ends
Wake me up when this number ends
Wake me up when this number ends
Zzzzzzzzzz....
I now await your judgement. Thank you and goodnight. =)

I totally agree with you! This song is so annoying, and it's so ridiculously overplayed on the radio.

I have to give you all 5's!!! This parody DOES completely rip on the artist, but it is very funny and very fitting. I agree with you to the point that this song has been completely played out, both on the radio and television. It seem's like everytime you turn on the radio it's there... I also made a parody of this song, listed on this site! If you want to check it out it's called "Wake Me Up When My 2nd Term Ends".
