Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Wake Me Up When Elections End"

Parody Written by:

Your Worst Nightmare

The Lyrics

Whether they be presidential, gubernatorial, or mayoral, this describes the angst of a typical election year.
Every four years or so
The politicians come and go
Wake me up when elections end

Are the ballots butterflies
Punch holes or computerized
Wake me up when elections end

Here comes the big debate
Who will win the round
Acting very irate
They're making angry sounds

They're all getting restless
The tension isn't getting less
Wake me up when elections end

They change their minds so fast
The candidates talk out their ass
Wake me up when elections end

The smear campaigns begin
Other guys who never win
Wake me up when elections end

It gets insane again
With all these diehards
People complain again
When all the chaos starts

Dead people are voting
It's all getting so confusing
Wake me up when elections end

Elections come and pass
The arguing will always last
Wake me up when elections end

Now which party shall I choose
Seems like either way I lose
Wake me up when elections end
Wake me up when elections end
Wake me up when elections end

I noticed that two people gave me three's for pacing.

Where is the pacing off course?

And thanks, Scathe.

When you type (SOTM), does that mean you have chosen my song as song of the month?

Well, if so, thanks a lot. ;)

(SOTM) I thought whoever gave you 3s for pacing was very harsh and out of order, YWN. This was a pretty well crafted parody all round. Is this your first SOTM contest? If so, welcome! 555

(SOTM) yes, you've gone a good way towards explaining all those hanging chads, YWN - pacing was good, but the humour was a bit light-on - more a personal statement, which I'm sure was your intention

SOTM - All right, we'll wake you up one November 1.

Thanks for your comments, and Kristof, yes, this is my first SOTM contest. :)

(SOTM) Good job with the pacing and I share the sentiment as well. "Now which party shall I choose
Seems like either way I lose"

Answer: Vote for the one less likely to screw things up while in office (was that Giant Douche or Turd Sandwhich?) ;-)

SOTM - Nice parody. Sounds very much like U.S. presidential elections...how ironic that the OS was done by a Canadian group!

(SOTM) I read this ages ago but musn't have commented. I particular get annoyed by all those email spams claiming to cure election problems...

SOTM...one of those original songs that I was sick of about 38 seconds into seeing the video. Anyway...I totally dig election season...I find it to be endlessly entertaining...=) Oh well...sleep on through it, YWN...I suppose we could wake you up when you're old enough to participate in the process...; )

Thought it was a clever title. I also get pretty sick of the voting 'environment', so I'm behind your idea.

(SOTM) Not big on politics so I liked this one. I especially enjoyed the "The candidates talk out their ass" line. Great Song!
