~intro~

We're defunct, politic'lly
But we *were* the scene
Party 1833!
At least down in ole SC*
Need to succeed
Tariffically! (or secede)
Feds are increasingly
The most dangerous kings
Sic Semper Tyranny
'cause we are envisioning
A state run state
With the feds in their place

Fed laws are nullified
'cause we will not be run by you
We want to make our rules
And marry whiskey 'stilled!
Everybody's... flippin' all the birds at you
We've had the bad fortune
But now we have Calhoun!

We hold out for some more talk
Before we walk
Do something militarily
But so far the North has won
(Damn Yankee Union!)
Little tariff reduction
Un-sat-is-factory
We claim victory
('cause it's our policy!)
But we're still envisioning
A fed-free state
Where we "save" all the slaves**

Fed laws are nullified
'cause we will not be run by you
We want to make our rules
Whatever fits the bills
Everybody's... cousins, brothers, sisters, too
His wife's just once removed
But that's our man Calhoun!

~solo (unplugged, obviously...)~

Fed laws are nullified
'cause we will not be run by you
We want to make our rules
And marry whiskey 'stilled!***
Everybody's... slingin' all their words at you
We've had the bad fortune
But now we have Calhoun!

Fed laws are nullified
'cause we will not be run by you
We want to make the rules
Whatever fits the bills
Everybody's... cousins, brothers, sisters, too
His wife's just once removed
But that's our man Calhoun!
Woo!

That was our party's view
'til 1842

We had a party to
year 1842!****
copyright 2008+ Jack "Red Ant" Fletcher * South Carolina **Calhoun was, unfortunately, pro-slavery. *** (di)stilled whiskey is often married, or blended, with other batches, but the visual of actually marrying a whiskey still is pretty funny as well IMO. ****Wikipedia is a bit unclear about the end of the Nullifier Party: 1842 is accurate enough, and it fit the rhyme scheme. =)

DKTOS, but enjoyed reading this. Matters re "old politics felt quite timely in the wake of watching last night's opening episodes of HBO's "John Adams" series. :-).

Thanks Matt, Jack, Jason, LittleCupCakes and Stan.

Matt: No idea for the next one, though I do have several half finished parodies to work on and some ideas brewin'.

Jack: The radio stations think it is awesome: "Paralyzer" has already been played to death here. It is a good song, but it doesn't need to be played every other hour.

Jason: I knew there was something I forgot. I'll get right on that.

LCC: Looks like you've misquoted my ending lyrics. In any case, the Nullifier party kinda faded away by the late 1830s - I couldn't find much on it, so I made up the ending (and the "whiskey 'stilled" lines).

Stan: Since HBO went hi-def, I don't get it anymore: I would have liked to seen that series. There's a link at the top of the parody to the song if you want to see how this scans to it... or just listen to any modern rock station for two hours. =)
