The Lyrics

TOS is an excellent song. If you have it handy, play it in the background (at a distance) while reading this.
Mother's in the tall grass
With the butler
Only they conceed
Where the cows are go(in)'
Lonely truth discovered
Distant sunlight
Heaven makes disguises too

I've been doomed as lazy
Ripped up floorin'
Panarama sounds
Whipping poser dude
Some 11 stories
Told by florists
Dreams they never used

Ahhhh.......

Silly widows
Beers won't hurt ya
Hos who come
From a far off guy
Winner's chant "Our Relish!"
Thunder covet
Glory of the Sonic Moon

Ooooh......

Sunday's known as ash, and
Stale ass Fritos
Somedays really suck
In the way, I'll beat 'em
Some of her is not fake
For a reason
When this guy above is booed
And this guy above is booed

Da daa daa.....

Dyin' in the long grass
Clothes beside her
Giving her the name
"Other one the dude loves"
Thistle be so tasty
Killed his member
And she slew his hard one -

- Nothing in the long grass
Books beside her
Lispering enough
Anyway, it's bleedin'
Lion in the tall grass
Endless sunlight
Make believe it's blue mud
Singing to confound them
Enya's lyrics -

- Filling them with mud
In a way, it breeds
Spoofing them despite of
Hammered landmines
Tell me that makes sense to you.....
Owing to a misheard tune......
Words I never knew........
And the sky of mud is blue.......

Strange music, strange woman, cool parody, "Stale ass Fritos" must be the line of the day! :-)

Beautifully strange ... very cool all 'round ... worth 5's for "Glory of the Sonic Moon" alone!

Ably translated from the Gaelic to the Moronic! DKTOS, but, you hear one Enya song, you pretty much hear them all. 555

Not all that good!!
Red Ant - August 06, 2006 - Report this comment
Spoof-Man, it may not be "all that good", but at least I write my own songs, and didn't word-for-word plagiarize any of Bob Ricci's material like you did recently with 'your' version of "Complicated".

(SOTM) Is it just me or is your parody longer than TOS? 'Casue I used TOS to synch this parody, and I had to play it twice to read the second half of this parody. Weird...? Speaking of weird, I loved this; quite different for you, Jack. Strange how many of the lyrics actually fit the song, if you listen closely. 555
Red Ant - August 07, 2006 - Report this comment
Thanks Chris! About TOS, the last 3 verses of my parody are really sung by Enya as one long verse, so my parody may seem longer than TOS for that reason.

(SOTM) Wow, DKTOS But great parody, so I'll take it from what the others have said, n 5-5-5

I think this is too abstract to be all that funny. I have to admit not being familiar with TOS or with Enya for that matter. -- MM

(SOTM) Hmm, Red Ant, with all the grunge you listen to I would have never taken you as an Enya fan! As mentioned earlier, not really funny per se but has a bit of a stream-of-consciousness thing going on that's kinda cool.

For fear of my hard one being slayed, I'll give this 5's

Thanks Charnstar, Paula and Silos Miconas, Kristof, Rick C, Michael McVey, Peter, Cat, and Matthias.

MM and Charnstar: I provided a working link to a MP3 of this song on the voting thread; while I don't normally strongly suggest everyone d/l song links I provide, I do so here because of the content, which I admit loses quite a bit if you DKTOS.
The Charnstar - August 16, 2006 - Report this comment
Just heard the original song, and really, I didn't hear any difference til you wrote "Enya's Lyrics" in the second last verse....
Red Ant - August 16, 2006 - Report this comment
Charnstar, that's actually a compliment, and was one of the "goals" of the parody (i.e., if you really heard "Winners chant "Our Relish"" vs "Winter Chanterelle lies", I succeeded). I can assure you the original lyrics are really quite different. Thanks!

Enya meets Theater of the Absurd. I like it. I admit to ignorance as to what is meant by "TOS", however.
Red Ant - August 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Thanks Phil! TOS is The Original Song.

(SOTM) This song is hilarious! The whole point of it, IMO, is to make fun of the incoherent lyrics and have them as random and silly sayings, like Weird Al's 'Smells Like Nirvana' or iisryan's 'La Parodiar Rumana Extrana De la Cancian De la Dan'. Well done!

(SOTM) I waited the 5 minutes for the download, then it wouldn't play for some reason - just left a washed out question-mark over the file format for some reason - I'll try to limewire it, but meanwhile, it's nice to see you try a new style of parody, Jack - often I can tell immediately whose parody it is by the style, because most writers don't move out of their comfort zone - that's what made the Beatles better than Nirvana, imo, although I love Nirvana - 555 on the poetry and I'm off to limewire

My favorite Enya song without a doubt and I would have parodied this song as well but I knew you had this one competing and since this was one of my favorite's of yours I didn't think I could compare. Especially with lines like: "Beers won't hurt ya" and "Stale ass Fritos" and of course: "Somedays really suck/ In the way, I'll beat 'em".
Agrimorfee - February 05, 2010 - Report this comment

That bar none is the best misheard lyrics parody I have ever read. I actually thought I was reading the real lyrics Jack, every verse had me cracking up. "11 Stories told by florists" and "stale @$$ fritos" and the entire stanza about clothes lying beside her were my favorites, if this had a backing track and I had time to figure out this thing, I'd record this in a heart beat. Normally misheard lyric parodies are exaggerated and make no sense, in this case, that's not true at all, these actually seem to be the lyrics. . .friggin amazing, probably my favorite Red Ant parody that I have read since you were a regular in song of the month and I was a newbie
Red Ant - September 11, 2010 - Report this comment
Some well overdue thank-yous to Matt, Aggy, T-Cop and Dave! and Dave, if you find a backing track to this, I would LOVE to hear you pull off Enya lol.
