The Lyrics

I don't listen to a lot of country music, but I was flipping channels last night and landed on CMT, and there was Brad Paisley singing this... I swear, I thought it was a parody. Nope, it's a real song: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/bradpaisley/alcohol.html. This parody is about a game that used to be great, and could be again, if only those high school kids with dollar signs in their eyes would learn the game to the point where they're as good as they think they are, and pro teams give them that chance, no more, no less. Call it The Kwame Brown Story.
I can make you be All-City.
I can make you believe lots of lies.
I can get your picked by a team
that's going for flash over size.

I've been known to cause a few crack-ups.
I've been known to make boys like you jerks.
I can make you new friends
who'll see you'll never have to work.

And since the day I left the factory
and you put on baggy pants
been making some kids lots of big money
and helping cheerleaders dance.
I made you so famous in high school.
But college, you blew past it all.
You had some of the best times
you'll ever remember with me:
Basketball!
Basketball!

I got blamed at your wedding reception
for your baby-mama's big screech
and also for fired coaches.
You're one kid they can't seem to teach.

I've influenced Kings and Trail Blazers.
I helped ESPN become big.
And I'll bet you a drink or two I can make you
treat women like Kobe, that pig.

'Cause since the day I left the factory
and you put on baggy pants
been making some kids lots of big money
and helping cheerleaders dance.
I made you so famous in high school.
But college, you blew past it all.
You had some of the best times
you'll ever remember with me:
Basketball!
Basketball!

(instrumental break)

Yeah, since the day I left the factory
and you put on baggy pants
been making some kids lots of big money
and helping cheerleaders dance.
Now veterans takin' you to school.
You sit on the bench after all.
You had some of the best times
but never respected my game:
Basketball!
Basketball!

Well done, MP. Your parody points out the absurdity of some Lakers fans who hope Kwame Brown will lead them back to the playoffs.
