The Offspring Bryan Holland (vocals) and Greg Kreisel (Bass) were in a band called 'Manic Subsidal'. However, two members dropped out and the duo picked up Kevin Wasserman as guitarist and Ron Welty as the drummer. Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page met bassist John Paul Jones while the two worked on Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" in April of 1968, and the two discussed the potential of joining forces. That summer, Page traveled to Birmingham to see and potentially recruit a young singer named Robert Plant, who was fronting his own group, Band of Joy. The trio was now lacking only a drummer, and Plant recommended his Band of Joy bandmate John Bonham. Rainbow Butt Monkeys The origin of this name comes from a house party in Burlington, ON Canada. The band was at a house party one evening. At this party several different chemicals substances were being consumed. Eventually has guest at the party dicovered an old Dr. Suess book. While reading this book in an altered state, the term Butt Monkey was formed. As the evening progressed, the word Rainbow was added, to bring us to the name Rainbow Butt Monkey.
