Anne Murray's, "A Little Good News"
The Lyrics:
Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today.
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play.
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA.
We sure could use a little good news today.
Why:
Refers to the island of Ireland, which is divided up between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom. The wish stated herein no doubt alludes to the fighting that has plagued Northern Ireland, so that's where the reference applies within the island of Ireland. Then refers to the United States of America. Also there's a reference to "the Third World", a place of sorts, even if a vaguely defined one. Originally it seems the term referred to countries aligned with neither "the West" nor the "communist block". But it has morphed into a more socioeconomic term than a political one, denoting parts of the world whose economic conditions and quality of life are way below the standards that more prosperous countries enjoy.
