INXS, "Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain)"
Layin' in the dust
...
Don't think about all the years we'd rather be without
...
And drown upon the high water
...
Fallin' down the mountain
And we're kissin' dust
Love a little closer
Sometimes we're gettin' hurt
...
Do-do-do-do, layin' in the dust
Find the seeds of fun
Do-do-do-do, and escape like alleycats
...
Captive to the night
We find the seeds of lust
And lose our mental wantings
...
Fallin' down the mountains
...
You know we're gettin' hurt
...
I said get it up, get up, get up
...
And I'm kissin' dirt, yeah
Playing in the dirt
...
Don't think about all the years you'd rather be without
...
And climb upon the highwire
...
Falling down the mountain
End up kissing dirt
Look a little closer
Sometimes it wouldn't hurt
...
Do-do-do-do, playing in the dirt
We find the seeds of fun
Do-do-do-do, and we scream like alleycats
...
Cutting through the night
We find the seeds of lust
And lose our minds on one intent
...
Fallin' down the mountain
...
You know it wouldn't hurt
...
I said get up, get up, get up
...
End up kissing dirt, yeah
To me, it is clear that this song is about lust as illustrated by The Fall of Man ("Eden lets me in"), and this is why 'dust' makes far more sense that 'dirt' ('For dust you are, and to dust you shall return'). At the end, lust leaves him empty and all he is kissing is dirt.
