Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Wallflowers

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Wallflowers', "One Headlight"
The Misheard Lyrics:
We can drive it home, Wuthering Heights.
The Real Lyrics:
We can drive it home with one headlight.
The Story: I sang the wrong words outloud at top of voice---at a Red Rocks concert, circa 1997, in front of very supportive audience. - Submitted by: Terri
Wallflowers', "Sixth Avenue Heartache"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Six-seven-eight heartache
or
Six- thousand new heartaches
The Real Lyrics:
Sixth Avenue heartache
The Story: I was listening to the song with a friend one day, and I suddenly realized I had the words wrong. As the song was ending, I told my friend, 'You know, I used to think the words were 'six-seven-eight heartache!', but now I know they're 'Six Thousand New Heartaches!'' He just gave me a weird look, then the announcer came on the radio and said, very clearly, 'And that was the Wallflowers and Sixth Avenue Heartache.' I felt a little dumb. - Submitted by: Joel
Wallflowers', "Three Marlenas"
The Misheard Lyrics:
She tried so hard not to pick a k***.
The Real Lyrics:
She tried so hardnot to pick a kite.
The Story: I didn't hear this song until after I had bought the CD. I was really disturbed by this song initially. I was going to return it and write to the band about how bewildered I was that they would use the term 'k***'. Luckily I looked up the lyrics online first. My bad. - Submitted by: Sagekat
