Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Tracy Lawrence

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Tracy Lawrence's, "Paint Me A Birmingham"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Paint me a funny hat.
The Real Lyrics:
Paint me a Birmingham.
The Story: My mom and I actually had an argument about the lyrics. She thought it was 'Paint me a photy-graph.' And I heard 'funny hat'. Well, we were both wrong. - Submitted by: Shelley
Tracy Lawrence's, "Paint Me a Birmingham"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Paint me a bunny head.
The Real Lyrics:
Paint me a Birmingham.
The Story: I don't hear very well, especially in noisy environments. I was riding in the car and this song was playing, but it wasn't very loud.. and combined with the road noise, it kept sounding like he was saying, "Paint me a bunny head." I thought it was a song about someone with Alzheimer's in an old folk's home or something. You never know about country music... - Submitted by: Tim
