Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Psychedelic Furs

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Here Came The Psychedelic Furs: B-Sides & Lost Grooves album at Amazon.com
The Psychedelic Furs', "All of This and Nothing"
The Misheard Lyrics:
A suit to wear on Mondays
And Encounter magazine
The Real Lyrics:
A suit to wear on Mondays
And a coat a magazine
The Story: At the end of the list containing the items just quoted, Richard Butler sings, "You didn't leave me anything that I can understand". The inside joke - inside to one person, perhaps - is that Encounter magazine (1953-1990), a very distinguished highbrow monthly written on an often very high level, might well have provoked the sort of cry of incomprehension I had assumed let loose upon it by Butler as above. Somehow, a mere generic coat and magazine would seem by contrast to be models of Cartesian clarity. - Submitted by: Scott Lahti
The Psychedelic Furs', "Heartbreak Beat"
The Misheard Lyrics:
And it feels like Luvs
The Real Lyrics:
And it feels like love
The Story: It felt like diapers? - Submitted by: Cody Finke
The Psychedelic Furs', "The Ghost in You"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I Like It. I Like It.
The Real Lyrics:
Inside you the time moves.
The Story: I never really knew where I heard the song first. For awhile I thought the song was A Flock of Seagulls. - Submitted by: Anonymous
