Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Pillows

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Fooly Cooly OST 1: Addict album at Amazon.com
The Pillows', "Little Busters"
The Misheard Lyrics:
With a kiss there goes the future
Many kiss done knee da mashers
Just wading for da li'l bussers, oh yeah.
The Real Lyrics:
With the kids sing out the future
Maybe kids don't need the masters
Just waiting for the little busters, oh yeah.
The Story: My friends and I had always thought the lyrics were 'With a kiss there goes the future...' like when Naota and Haruko kiss... but man were we wrong! - Submitted by: Haruko
The Pillows', "Noboranai Taiyou / The Sun Does Not Rise"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You're leaving when I sleep
You're living in my train.
The Real Lyrics:
You're leaving when I sleep
You're living in my dream.
The Story: This is just one of many lyrics that my mother has misheard rather amusingly while I have played my copy of 'penalty life' on the car stereo. I don't know who or what to credit with these-- Sawao Yamanaka's English pronunciation, or my mother's difficulty with understanding song lyrics! - Submitted by: vespa
The Pillows', "Ride On Shooting Star"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Why don't you p*** off?
The Real Lyrics:
Ride on, Shooting Star.
The Story: Not knowing the NAME of the song, my friend and I lost it laughing at the song, thinking they were saying 'Why don't you piss off?' Unfortunately, finding out the REAL words made the song slightly less cool. Still cool! Just a little less. - Submitted by: Piers McCarney
The Pillows', "Stalker"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Yatto ninzuu bun tamago wo soroe tanda ze
The Real Lyrics:
Yatto ninzuu bun tama wo soroe tanda ze
The Story: This lyric is really only funny if you take into account the fact that the Japanese word 'tamago' means 'egg' The song has nothing to do with eggs. The translation of that line is roughly, "Finally, I got enough bullets for all the people". The misheard version would be "Finally, I got enough eggs for all the people", which strikes me as hilarious. - Submitted by: Vespa
