Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Oak Ridge Boys

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Dream on
Spent the night in your heaven

The Story: Most of the misheard lyrics I have submitted to this site involved my older days working in broadcasting, and this one is no exception. Valentine's night, 1991, working on a love songs program, I got a call from a guy wanted to send this song out to his girlfriend, so he could propose. I ruined their mood, not realizing my mic was on. Jamming out in my headphones, I made the comment, "Where the h*** else is he going to be?" This guy drove to the studio to give me a butt whooping for killing the mood. He changed his mind when, in the parking lot of the radio station, she shouted yes. I got invited to the wedding. - Submitted by: Dan Fletcher
