Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Guess Who

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Guess Who's, "Albert Flasher"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Baby and me were raspberry pickin'
The Real Lyrics:
Baby and me were ripe for the pickin'
The Story: I wore out this 45 back in the '70s because I liked the music, didn't really have a clue what the song was about (still don't). I haven't heard it in decades, and a little while ago they played a little clip of it on an all night radio talk show, and I instantly recognized it. I looked up the lyrics, and first now realized the proper words. - Submitted by: Dan
The Guess Who's, "Albert Flasher"
The Misheard Lyrics:
That was the day we ran into Albert Schweitzer
The Real Lyrics:
That was the day we ran into Albert Flasher
The Story: No real story. I think I had just heard of Albert Schweitzer, when this song first came out, whereas I still have never heard of Albert Flasher, except in this song. It probably should be Albert Schweitzer, as that makes more sense, and that's how I plan to sing it. - Submitted by: Ray
The Guess Who's, "These Eyes"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Design a peanut butter bitta beeta boota butta batta mitt shoes
The Real Lyrics:
These eyes have seen a lot of loves
But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you
The Story: First time I heard this song it was from kind of a distance and well, that particular part of the song sounded like just straight up nonsensical gibberish. - Submitted by: JH
The Guess Who's, "Undun"
The Misheard Lyrics:
She’s got a gun.
The Real Lyrics:
She's come undone.
The Story: The speakers were terrible in the kitchen where I worked in the late ‘90s. They were still marketing the whole Midcentury thing, as they were a drive-in. I didn’t know the real lyrics until literally three days ago, in 2022. - Submitted by: Leona
