Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Calling

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Camino Palmero album at
The Calling's, "Adrienne"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I've been thinking about you, Milo
The Real Lyrics:
I've been thinking about you, my love
The Story: Another reason why we hear "Milo" instead of "my love" in songs. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
The Calling's, "Things Will Go My Way"
The Misheard Lyrics:
'cause maybe Sunday
The Real Lyrics:
'cause maybe someday
The Story: And also, why we mishear "someday" as "Sunday". - Submitted by: Cody Finke
The Calling's, "Wherever You Will Go"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Runaway with my harp
Runaway with my whore.
The Real Lyrics:
Runaway with my heart
Runaway with my hope.
The Story: My friend was singing this when it was on the radio. When she sung this part of the song, she stopped and said to me, 'Wow, I thought this was a Christian rock band, but he just said 'whore'!' My mom was driving us to the mall, so she turned to her and said 'What did you just say?!' - Submitted by: Michelle
