Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Texas

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Texas - Greatest Hits album at Amazon.com
Texas', "Halo"
The Misheard Lyrics:
She hasn't had enough
She really didn't try hard
for she hasn't had enough
endless sunshine
The Real Lyrics:
For she has a halo
we really do adore her
for she has a halo
can we touch her
The Story: My mum really had a thing for Texas, and she was singing this at the top of her voice when I took her to see them when they played Newcastle. Oddly, people started to lookat her in a wierd way, and being the kinda of woman she is, promptly marched over to the nearest staring person and asked then what the hell was wrong with them. They informed her, and the beetroot colour was revealed for all to see. - Submitted by: kokuten
Texas', "When We Are Together"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Love is plasticine.
The Real Lyrics:
Love has placed the seed.
The Story: I started singing this at the top of my voice while I was watching 'The Wedding Date'. Then I turned the subtitles on. - Submitted by: Ramon Chiratheep
Texas', "When We Are Together"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Oh, I remember you
So kind-of fat and Greek.
The Real Lyrics:
Oh, I remember you said
'Can I fight and breathe?'
The Story: I really thought for years Charlene Spiteri must have had a fat Greek ex-boyfriend or something. - Submitted by: Max
