Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Silverchair

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Silverchair's, "Ana's Song(Open Fire)"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Please Diana,
for as long as yo' here I'm not
The Real Lyrics:
Please die Ana,
for as long as you're here, we're not
The Story: I was singing it in a rehersal, and Blunt and Crackduck {band members} said, 'Where did you get the lyrics?' I told them I just sung it by ear, and they said, 'Boy that's one messed up version.' - Submitted by: STG
Silverchair's, "Do You Feel The Same?"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Could I be red if I was see-through?
The Real Lyrics:
Could I be read if I was see-through?
The Story: I actually made a comment in the nonsensical lyrics section asking how could he be 'red' and see-through and that there might be an alternate meaning. That, however, was before I realized the type of 'read' he was talking about! - Submitted by: sXe LeXi 5X2
Silverchair's, "Do You Feel The Same?"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Would I be red if I was see-through?
The Real Lyrics:
Could I be read if I was see-through?
The Story: The most tragic thing is that I had the misheard lyric as my MSN name for at least a week. - Submitted by: Samantha
Silverchair's, "The Greatest View"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Through the wind you crawl
And laugh at burning Jews.
The Real Lyrics:
Through the wind you crawl
And laugh at burning dunes.
The Story: I have nothing against Jewish people at all, for one of my best friends is Jewish. He's the one that pointed out one day that that's what that line sounded like. I never saw it until he pointed it out. - Submitted by: Gregory Johnston
