Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Moody Blues

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Days of Future Passed album at Amazon.com
Moody Blues', "Gemini Dream"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Take a chance, see it through Yogi Bear
The Real Lyrics:
Take a chance, see it through, you'll be glad
The Story: I have listened to this song ever since I was a kid and for years I though Yogi Bear was referred to in the song. - Submitted by: Anthony D
Moody Blues', "In Your Wildest Dreams"
The Misheard Lyrics:
In your wild Irish dreams
The Real Lyrics:
In your wildest dreams
The Story: I thought the version as I misheard it was the coolest part of the song and was so disappointed when I was corrected. I still like the song, but my affection for it dropped a bit on that day and has never fully recovered. I'm not Irish, but I've known some awesome-looking Irish girls so maybe that's why I liked the song that way. Also, I've never liked lyrics where one syllable is made into two syllables (or two into one) to keep the meter straight. Irish has two syllables which is needed at that point. "Wy-ild est dreams" seems cheap by comparison. - Submitted by: Ed
Moody Blues', "New Horizons"
The Misheard Lyrics:
'Cause I know I'm gonna find
My pizza pie
Someday
The Real Lyrics:
'Cause I know I'm gonna find
My piece of mind,
Someday.
The Story: It's possible that in one of (I'm sure) several takes it took recording, Justin expressed his hunger through song - which he could, anyway, since he wrote it after all... :) - Submitted by: Chowder
Moody Blues', "Nights In White Satin"
The Misheard Lyrics:
What's like fade from every room?
Beds that are people look back and lament.
The Real Lyrics:
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament.
The Story: I recorded this on tape and kept replaying it to figure out what was said. I asked my boyfriend what he thought it was (not having the tape handy), and he said it was easy to tell, because it was spoken not sung. Then I suggested 'bedsitter,' and he thought I was crazy. Being Americans, we had no idea what a 'bedsitter' was, and he was insistant that it was something else, something obvious, but coulnd't possibly be 'bedsitter.' Years later I finally found the lyrics on the Internet! Yeah! - Submitted by: Anne ODay
Moody Blues', "Peak Hour"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil!
The Real Lyrics:
Peak Hour! Peak Hour!
The Story: I know this is stupid and I couldn't really believe that they were singing "Sieg Heil!" but that was the nearest I could get. - Submitted by: Wayne Olsen
