Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Merideth Brooks

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Merideth Brooks', "Bitch"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I'm in sentimental pain
I do not feel the shame
I'm your health, I'm your scream
I'm nothing overtwined you know you wouldn't want it any other way
The Real Lyrics:
I'm a sinner I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between your know you wouldn't want it any other way
The Story: I was so positive that I knew at least the chorus that went I went with my friends to a party and was asked which song I was going to sing kareoke to, I said, 'Bitch'. I told them not even to put the words on the screen- I wanted to sing it without any help. I humiliated myself infront of the entire grade by singing the wrong words. (And I was really into singing the whole thing too! No one started laughing until the end! They actually listened to me sing the whole song wrong and got it under a video camera. They use it as blackmail still to this day!!!) - Submitted by: Maria
