Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Medulla Nocte

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Medulla Nocte's, "Broken State Of Mind"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You call yourself a punk?
You call yourself a punk?
You call yourself a punk?
Well I'll take you up the a***.
The Real Lyrics:
You call yourself a friend?
You call yourself a friend?
You call yourself a friend?
What scheme are you behind?
The Story: My brother was playing the whole album very loudly in his room with gigantic speakers, which meant that every sound was exaggerated thanks to vibrations from all around. Because of this, I couldn't really hear the lyrics from downstairs so heard what I heard and when I did, I shouted across to him why on Earth Medulla Nocte were singing about some sort of master class in sodomy. When he halted everything with an incredulous 'what?' I sang what I heard - and from there I started worrying that if he laughed any harder he might have exploded. - Submitted by: Devil Jones
