Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Julie Roberts

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Break Down Here album at Amazon.com
Julie Roberts', "Break Down Here"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I'm out of cigarettes and I'm down to my last rag.
The Real Lyrics:
I'm out of cigarettes and I'm down to my last drag.
The Story: I was so disgusted when I heard this song. I thought for sure the artist was singing about only having one maxi pad left. I had to look up the lyrics to finally understand what she was really saying. - Submitted by: Donelle Stroh
Julie Roberts', "Unlove Me"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Show a little bird seen and a love key.
The Real Lyrics:
Show a little mercy and unlove me.
The Story: I heard it playing in a store and was struck with curiosity over the apparently curious lyrics (the misheard version, that is). I started singing that curious line to myself and sometimes out loud. The next day, a friend heard me singing those misheard lyrics and almost died laughing. Then she tole me the real words to those lines. - Submitted by: That No-one Candy Nye
