Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Jody Watley

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Jody Watley's, "Don't You Want Me?"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Watley, Jody Watley
Watley, Jody Watley
The Real Lyrics:
Want me, Don't you want me?
Don't you want me, like I want you
The Story: Originally, I didn't know this was Jody Watley but heard this song on the radio at work and thought it sounded like Watley's, "Looking for a New Love" except with different lyrics. So I walked through the room with the radio mockingly singing the chorus as "Watley, Jody Watley..." which made my co-worker bust out laughing as he believed, I thought those were the actual lyrics. - Submitted by: Bob Z
Jody Watley's, "Looking for a New Love"

I'm looking for a new love
The Story: Playboy founder Hugh Hefner would really love to see Jody Watley naked! - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Jody Watley's, "New Love"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I'm lookin' for a noodle love, baby
A noodle love.
The Real Lyrics:
I'm lookin' for a new love, baby
A new love.
The Story: These were actually the lyrics that my little sister thought she heard. Every time the song came on the radio, this is how she would sing it. It was hilarious! She must have been about 3 or 4 at the time. We still tease her about it to this day. - Submitted by: Hannah
