Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

I'm horny day and night
I tremble at your side.
Morning, day and night
I tremble at your sight.
The Story: It confused me as to why Hanson would point out in a song that they were horny, but I sang it anyway. - Submitted by: Jodie
The lamp gets dusty, The pipes get rusty
But I don't want to wash my Hanes clean
The lamp gets dusty, The pipes get rusty
But I don't want to wash my hands clean
The Story: This is what it sounds like Zac is saying. - Submitted by: Anny
Big rock, little rock
Mmmbop ba duba dop
The Story: When the cd first came out a long time ago I went through the phase of being obsessed with it and my dad was listening to it one day. He was the one that came up with the lyrics, not me. He still runs around the house to this day singing those lyrics. - Submitted by: Reecey Williams
It's gonna be a Teezio-oh!
Is it gonna be a daisy or a rose?
The Story: I have no idea what I thought a 'Teezio' was, but I figured that if the song's entire chorus was nonsense words (mmmbop, dop a doo bop) , then it would make sense for Hanson to use a word like 'Teezio.' - Submitted by: Fran
Caught a bee in the coffee cup next to my seat
Catch a few and ah-numm-in-a-boop-da-beep
Got my bean in a coffee cup next to my seat
Catch the view and another good book to read
The Story: Both my sister and I misunderstood the lyrics when we first listened to Penny and Me together. The above is the composite of our collective mishearings. We figured ah-numm-in-a-boop-da-beep was something akin to Mmmbop, so, it seemed logical at the time. We still laugh about it to each other. - Submitted by: KayCee
Hanson's,
"Strong Enough To Break"
We just play f***ing records
We just play broken records
The Story: I was really, really scared when I heard the lyrics...I had always though Hanson was a totally clean band. Fortunately, I was right about Hanson being clean--the lyrics of my mind were wrong. - Submitted by: James
Isn't it hard standing with Lorraine?
Isn't it hard standing in the rain?
The Story: Why do we hear "Lorraine" instead of "the rain", especially in songs? - Submitted by: Cody Finke
From the thongs I used to wear.
From the thorns I used to wear.
The Story: When I first heard this, I was wondering why Taylor would admit to wearing a thong. I had to replay the song and that's when I picked up on 'my forehead is still bleeding.' - Submitted by: Virginia
