Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Festival And Hosanna Chorus

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Festival And Hosanna Chorus', "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day"
The Misheard Lyrics:
This paradigm for my true love.
The Real Lyrics:
This have I done for my true love.
The Story: Today I heard this on a 3 CD set enitiled '100 Christmas Classics'. Last night, I was at a Christmas party where one person pesent was talking about a 'paradigm shift' to the point of distraction. Guess that is what had the word 'paradigm' fresh on my mind and may have influenced my mishearing of this line. In any event, the misheard line as I've cited it was certainly my first thought as to what I heard the chorus singing on this CD at that point. The line gets repeated within the song, but that didn't help me deduce the real words. Only by consulting a lyrics site was I able to determine the actual lyrics. - Submitted by: Penelope Beckinsale
