Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).
Bailamos: Greatest Hits album at Amazon.com
By the balls, let the rhythm take you over by the balls.
Bailamos, let the rhythm take you over bailamos!
The Story: At first I thought wow what a really dirty song! So I told some friends that speak Spanish; and they, laughingly, corrected me in speaking proper Spanish! - Submitted by: salem
Don't let the Romans go by!
Don't let a moment go by.

You can run, you can die
But you can't escape my love
You can run, you can hide
But you can't esape my love
The Story: The first time I heard this song, I spent the week going around singing 'you can run, you can die...' until I realized how morbid that is! Why would he want her to die? I listened closely when I heard the song again, but I still heard 'die'...listen to it, too! It seriously sounds like he's saying 'die', not 'hide'. Hmm...I don't think I want to date Enrique Iglesias anymore. - Submitted by: SaraBooger
You can run, you can hide
But you cannot see my room.
You can run, you can hide
But you can't escape my love.
The Story: I was with my sister when this song came on the radio. She started going on about how stupid it is. When I asked her why, she said, 'You can run, you can hide, but you cannot see my room? What does that even mean?' So, of course, I laughed at her and set her straight. - Submitted by: Anne
I'm not a man
It's just a fase that I'm going through.
I'm not in love
It's just a phase that I'm going through.
The Story: A friend of mine really misheard this lyric and asked wether Enrique had had a gender-change. - Submitted by: ehlen
