Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Dragon

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Snake Eyes on the Paradise: Greatest Hits 1976-1989 album at
Dragon's, "April Sun in Cuba"
The Misheard Lyrics:
And the day he shook him ahah
The Real Lyrics:
And the day he shook him up
The Story: The song is talking about the Cuban Missile crisis and the line "talking about JFK and the way he shook him up" references how close they came to war. - Submitted by: Lyn
Dragon's, "April Sun in Cuba"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Snake eyes on the paradise
The Real Lyrics:
Snake eyes on a PAIR OF DICE
The Story: Dear Editor, the reason "everyone else" lists the song lyrics incorrectly as "snake eyes on the paradise" is because all you numb-nuts on lyric websites just copy from each other. Check sites which use the original sheet music instead. - Submitted by: Lyn
Dragon's, "Rain"
The Misheard Lyrics:
It's a happiness thing.
And it's happiness to you.
The Real Lyrics:
It's a happening thing.
And it's happening to you.
The Story: There is a confusion between "happening" and "happiness". Happiness was an expression when someone feel so happy and smile every day. So, it makes no sense at all. About this song: "Rain" is track #1 on their seventh studio album, "Body and the Beat", released in June 1984. It was written by Johanna Pigott, Marc Hunter, and Todd Hunter. It reaching #2 on Australia chart and #88 on Billboard's Pop Chart. Making them their only major hit single to date. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
