Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Donna Lewis

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Donna Lewis', "Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I love you, always forever
Near or far, bulls*** together.
The Real Lyrics:
I love you, always forever
Near or far, closer together.
The Story: First time I heard it on radio, I asked myself, "Did she say that?" I later looked up the lyrics on the web and had a good laugh. - Submitted by: Frank Monaco
Donna Lewis', "Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You've got the most stumbling blue eyes
The Real Lyrics:
You've got the most unbelievable blue eyes
The Story: I love this song, and so does my boyfriend, but neither of us really knew the lyrics ... and recently the song was playing on my stereo and i heard, crystal-clear, 'you've got the most stumbling blue eyes i've ever seen' and i was like, 'hey, what a fantastic line!' ... it describes my boyfriend's eyes beautifully :) - Submitted by: Beth

Donna Lewis', "I Love You Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I love you, hope to Moorabbin
Near or far, Hope to Moorabbin
or
I love you, hope to Komatu
Near or far, Hope to Komatu
The Real Lyrics:
I love you, always forever
Near or far, closer together.
The Story: I couldn't figure out whether it was Moorabbin or Komatu. I am Australian, and Moorabbin is a Melbourne suburb which has a football oval which used to be the home ground of my favourite AFL (Australian Football League) team. They stopped playing there in the 90s, but as a kid I thought she was singing about Moorabbin Oval, and how she loved it but the Saints no longer play there anymore. I didn't know what Komatu was until I googled it, turns out it's a Japanese City. I thought they were pronouncing 'Komatsu,' the earthmoving machinery company wrong. A lot of Komatsus used to be on building sites etc. in town near where I lived. - Submitted by: Rose
Donna Lewis', "I Love You Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You've got the most humbling blue eyes.
The Real Lyrics:
You've got the most unbelievable blue eyes.
The Story: My wife swore that the true words were 'unbelievable blue eyes' while I thought they were 'humbling' -- I had all our friends bashing my wife for misunderstanding the words -- even my ex-girlfriend (who was my wife's best friend!). Finally, we called a friend in England who had the CD to find out what the words really were... and she was right! I paid dearly for that mistake! - Submitted by: Tim Hartpence

Donna Lewis', "I Love You, Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Of lightning, pale Anduril
The Real Lyrics:
Of light mists of pale amber rose
The Story: All right, I admit it! I'm a Lord of the Rings fan. But I could swear I've been hearing something like this in the song even before I knew much about the books/movies. Only back when the song first came out, I couldn't quite figure out what they were. When I got into LOTR and listened to the song again it distinctly sounded like 'Anduril' (Aragorn's sword), even though I knew this could possibly be what she was singing. It was only reading misheard lyrics for this song that I found out what the real lyrics were. How embarassing, good thing I never sang it this way. - Submitted by: Lady Daydreamer
Donna Lewis', "I Love You, Always Forever"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You've got the most startling blue eyes
The Real Lyrics:
You've got the most unbelievable blue eyes
The Story: My girlfriend (blue eyes) and I are still convinced it's "startling". - Submitted by: Averon
