Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Story: I swear when I listen to the song, I randomly hear one of the above each time she sings 'oh life'. And sometimes I hear combinations of them (e.g. 'all line', 'phone night' etc). - Submitted by: Mjn Seifer
Lovers they may close your ears. Or. Lovers they may close your tears.
Lovers they may cause your tears.
The Story: I remember when I was little, I really thought that one of the misheard lyrics that I posted was the one. - Submitted by: Erin Kirisci
Oh I know, oh I know
All I know, all I know

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold
You gotta drink Budweiser
To get hard.
You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard.
The Story: This is my second time submitting these misheard lyrics. First time it didn't the site didn't take the misheard version, and I also remembered that I thought Des'ree had sung something after when I thought she mentioned the Anheuser-Busch product. Again, when I first heard this song, back in 1994, I thought maybe Des'ree had been hired by Anheuser-Busch but then I couldn't figure out why all the pop radio stations were playing the song or letting her say the words after "Budweiser", which I thought she was singing which absolutely made no sense to me (although maybe a great selling point for the product amongst men -- it probably wasn't true and might turn off women). After I told someone in 2005 my confusion over the lyrics of this song they just rolled on the floor with laughter. - Submitted by: Peter
