Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Del Reeves

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Del Reeves', "Looking at the World Through a Windshield"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Now I'm looking at Astroworld through a windshield
The Real Lyrics:
Now I'm looking at the world through a windshield
The Story: From 1968 until 2005, Astroworld was a theme park located along Loop 610 in Houston, Texas. - Submitted by: Bob
Del Reeves', "The Girl On The Billboard"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Well, what a girl wearing nothing but a smile
And it's out in the picture on the billboard in the field near the big old highway
The Real Lyrics:
Well, what a girl wearing nothing but a smile
And a towel in the picture on the billboard in the field near the big old highway
The Story: I remember hearing this as a child and being amazed that it seemed to be about a picture on a billboard of a girl completely naked, since I thought I was hearing 'and it's out' instead of 'and a towel'. - Submitted by: Regina Olsen
