Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Adrian Gurvitz

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

And I left you on the runway.

Adrian Gurvitz's, "Classic"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Gonna write a classic
Gonna write it in an alley
Baby, I'm a Harley now
A Harley for your ride
The Real Lyrics:
Got to write a classic
Got to write it in an attic
Baby, I'm an addict now
An addict for your love
The Story: This was 1982. My second trimester as a student at the University of Bauman in Moscow and it was a very bad short-wave broadcast somewhere from the UK so I misheard almost all the song. - Submitted by: Russian Vatnik
Adrian Gurvitz's, "Classic"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Gotta ride a classic
Gotta ride it in an attic
The Real Lyrics:
Gotta write a classic
Gotta write it in an attic
The Story: I hear a song of riding a classic but riding it in an attic. I looked for the lyrics and "Oh! It was about writing." XD It was never about a car. - Submitted by: MJ Inostroza
