The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
'Cause I know that the hippie types never lie.
'Cause I know that the hypnotized never lie.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
'Cause the 'nanners, they all bought in the next store.
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the bar team on the left is now the bar team on the right
or
And the party on the left is now the party on the right
And the parting on the left is now parting on the right
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the beards of thought no longer roll the dice
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the beers of thought gone under a woman night
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the farting on the left is now farting on the right
And the parting on the left is now parting on the right
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the marching on the left is now marching on the right.
Spin the wheel, roll the dice.
And the parting on the left is now parting on the right.
And the beards have all grown longer overnight.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the men who spurred the song
Say they've been judgin' all along
And they decided in the shotgun sings the song.
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
And they decide and the Shotguns sings the song.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the passing on the left
Is now passing on the right
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
I MUCH prefer my lyric. When you look at the gravity of the lyrics and the rest of the song, 'parting of people's hair' doesn't make any sense! It should represent the situation after replacement of one country's totalitarian regime with another: the soldiers still goose-step past the Dictator - the only difference being they are marching in the opposite direction!
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And the passing on the left
Is now passing on the right
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
I had so many images from 'my' lyrics - communists and fascists passing the people standing on footpaths changing the sides on which they marched, the change in the early 70s to more conservative types of government, the list goes on. VERY disappointed.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
And tomorrow hippy worship will be gone
And the morals that we worshipped will be gone
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Babe, the scythe and the shotgun sing the song
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Don't get poop again
Don't get fooled again
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
I know that you're hypnotized, mesmerized
I know that the hypnotized never lie
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
I tip my hat to the nude prostitution.
I tip my hat to the new constitution.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
I tip my hat to the you constitution.
I tip my hat to the new constitution.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
If we happen to be, let's have a lie.
If we happen to be left half-alive
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Now the parking on the left
is now a parking on the right
And the tears of thought no longer overnight.
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Now the party on the left
Is now partying on the right.
Now the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Runnin' free with the chickens all around
Smile and grin at the change all around
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Soylent Green and the change all around
Smile and grin at the change all around
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
Take a vow for the new revolution
Take a bow for the new revolution
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We don't get food again.
We don't get fooled again.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We don't get food again
Don't get food again
No, no!
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We don't get poop again
We don't get fooled again
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated barnacles, in a song
We were liberated from the fold, that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated from the folding song.
We were liberated from the fold that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated from the fool, that's all.
We were liberated from the fold, that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated from the poet's song!
We were liberated from the fold that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated from the poor red Czar.
We were liberated from the fold, that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We were liberated on a poet's song.
We were liberated from the fold that's all.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We won't get food again.
We won't get fooled again.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We won't get home again
We won't get fooled again
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We won't get tuned again
We won't get fooled again
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We won't see Pooh again
We won't get fooled again
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We'll be farting in the street.
We'll be fighting in the street.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children and our meat
And tomorrow Cindy Merchant will be gone
And the men who sang the song
Said the judge-men all are wrong
They decide that the shotgun sings the song.
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song.
The Who's,
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And tomorrows that we worshiped will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Now sit in judgement of our wrong
They decided the shotgun sings the song.
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song.
The Who's,
"Won’t Get Fooled Again"
We don’t get Culligan
We don’t get fooled again
