Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
This page contains all the misheard lyrics for Let Her Cry that have been submitted to this site and the old collection from inthe80s started in 1996.

And if the sun comes up tomorrow, Letter "B."
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, Let her be.
I just run my hands through her dock hand
I just run my hands through her dark hair
I just run my hands, do what I dare.
I just run my hands through her dark hair.
I just stood on my ass and cried
I just sat on the couch and cried
I sat down on my couch and cried, yeah
Oh my Lord, please kill me.
I sat down on my couch and cried, yellin'
'Oh momma, please help me.'
I sat down on my couch and cried, yellin' "woman, please help me"
I sat down on my couch and cried, yellin' 'Oh momma, please help me.'
I sat down on my couch in 'Dracula'
War for love, please will be
Won't you hold my hand?'
I sat down on my couch and cried
Yelling, 'Oh, mama, please help me!
Won't you hold my hand?'
I say that I don't care
I just rub my hands, do what I can
And I pray to God, you gotta help me find a way.
I say that I don't care
I just run my hands through her dark hair
And I pray to God, you gotta help me fly away.
I say that I don't care
I just run my hands through her Dockers
and I pray to God you gotta help me find a way
I say that I don't care
I just run my hands through her dark hair
and I pray to God you gotta help me fly away
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, "Abba Deebey Dahbie dain".
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain.

But Stipe's not far behind
She said Dar's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.
She said there's the one I love the most
And time's not far behind.
She says Dad's the one I love the most
And Stipe's not far behind.
Editor's note: For some reason, this line has been disputed. I think "Dad's the one I love the most..." is correct.
She said there's the one I love the most
And Schnapps not far behind.
She said Dad's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.

She says hello my lamppost
She sits alone by the lamppost
She says that's the one I love the most,
and Stipe's not far behind
She says Dad's the one I love the most
And Stipe's not far behind.
She says that's the one I love the most
These times not far behind.
She says Dad's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.
I saw that this was still being debated... ("But Stipe's not far behind). Those are the correct lyrics for that line -- on the Hootie and the Blowfish website, the lyrics posted there are the same ("But Stipe's not far behind"). Most likely 'she' is talking about Michael Stipe, lead singer for R-E-M. So, she loves her dad but Michael Stipe's not far behind in that category.
She says there's the one I love the most,
Michael Stipe's not far behind
She says, 'Dad's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.'
She says, "Dan's the one Iove the most, but Stan's not far behind."
She says, "Dad's the one I love the most, but Stipe's not far behind."
She says, "There’s the one I love the most
But the Schnapp’s not far behind"
She said Dar's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.
She sits alone violin
She sits alone by a lamppost
She sits along my lamppost
Trying to find a cutlet escaped her mind
She sits alone by a lamppost
Trying to find a thought that's escaped her mind
She sits on a Lambo
She sits alone by a lamppost.
She sits on my lamppost.
She sits alone by a lamppost.
She sits on my lamppost
Trying to find a father's escape to mine
She says, 'There's the one I love the most
But the snot's right far behind.'
She sits alone by the lamppost
Trying to find a thought that's escaped her mind
She says, 'Dad's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind.'
