Arthur S. Arnott's, "Christ for the Whole Wide World"
Youth and maiden, hearts of leaden
Youth and maiden, hearts love-laden
I thought that we were called to have hearts strong as lead. As an adult, I was called upon to teach this song to young people. As I read the correct words I was amazed that I had gotten it wrong, and then I was amused to think that Christians would wear armor made of heavy, but easily-pierced lead. Thankfully, I am regularly learning the value of contacting people with a heart loaded with love rather than hidden behind a lead shield.
Editor's note: The person who submitted this put "Junior Songsters at Salvation Army" as the performer name. I tried googling it like that and it didn't come up with any results outside of Amiright. (Therefore that is not a valid performer.) But I did find out that it was written by Arthur S. Arnott, who lived from 1870-1941. However, I'm sure that a number of acts have recorded it, so I'm not sure which publicly-acknowledged recording this mishearing might come from. Until someone comes forward with the name of a performer who recorded a legit rendition (and has proof), I'm using the composer's name.
