Misheard Lyrics Stories -> Latest Entries

"Run Away," Real McCoy
Misheard Lyrics:
Run away if you want to "chī fàn"
Original Lyrics:
Run away if you want to survive
Story about this misheard lyric by: David: I'm of mixed heritaged and my dad is Chinese, so he taught me a few Mandarin words while growing up, such as "ni hao" (hello/how are you), "xie xie ni" (thank you) and "chī fàn". When I first heard the lyric, I misheard it as the Mandarin word for eating dinner (chī fàn), and used to think "what is she doing singing about running away and eating dinner, and why is she speaking Chinese now?"
