Band Name Origins:
- I read that Rasmus is a form of "Erasmus", the Greek word for "beloved". Submitted by: Mandy
- Well... There's a few theories. Aki Hakala (the drummer) once said in an interview that it's a slur of the two words, 'trash' and 'mosh', because both represented their style of music. Eero Heinonen (the bassist) also once said in an interview that it was named after a Swedish boy they knew named 'Rasmus' that used to be picked on. Lauri Ylonen (the lead singer) has also said in several interviews that it was simply a nonsense word that they thought sounded cool. Submitted by: Hattu

Story about this misheard lyric by: Joel Martinez My friend, Alex and I were listening to each other's CDs, when I decide to put on The Rasmus. At first, he thinks they stink, since their music is clean. But when it gets to that part, he make a face that he usually makes when he's humoristically disgusted: scowl on the eyes, and mouth is wide open. When he stops making that face, I laugh, and tell him it's 'He's walking', not doing what I know he thinks he's doing in his twisted mind. Which after that, he gives a brisk laugh of relief. |
