Fun Music Information -> Postal Service

This is the most recent information about Postal Service that has been submitted to amIright. If we have more information about Postal Service, then we provide a link to the section where it appears (the actual page whenever possible).

Band Name Origins:

  • Since their CD was made through emailing the music files back and forth and manipulating the sounds around to get that techno depth to it, they named themselves (who both belong to other bands), The Postal Service. Submitted by: Shelly
  • The two main members, Jimmy Tamborello and Ben Gibbard, lived in different cities. Jimmy would write the music and then mail the tapes to Ben who would put lyrics over it. Hence, the U.S. postal service made this band possible. Submitted by: some kid

Stupid Band Names:

  • Isn't this a violation of copyright laws, since there is already an actual Postal Service? Submitted by: Opie M.

Upbeat Songs With Depressing Lyrics:

"Nothing Better"
The Lyrics:
Tell me am I right to think that there could be nothing better
Than making you my wife and slowly growing old together.
Don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future.
Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures.
Why:
A man is in love with a woman and desperately wants her to stay, but she leaves him.
Submitted by: Tiffany
"Nothing Better"
The Lyrics:
Will someone please call a surgen
That can crack my ribs
And repair this broken heart
That you've deserted for better company?
Why:
The whole way through the song this man's begging this woman to stay and she's refusing and yet they sing in a really calm, unattached way at a fast, upbeat pace.
