Real Lyrics -> Upbeat Songs With Depressing Lyrics -> Dionne Warwich

Ever here an unbeat song with very depressing lyrics?

Check out the index.

Dionne Warwich's, "Do You Know The Way To San Jose"
The Lyrics:
L.A. is a great big freeway
Put a hundred down and buy a car.
In a week, maybe two, they'll make you a star
Weeks turn into years
How quick they pass
And all the stars that never were
Are parking cars and pumping gas
Why:
In early 1969, "Do You Know The Way To San Jose" (released in late 1968) became the highest charting hit for the combination of singer Dionne Warwick and songwriting duo of Hal David and Burt Bacharach, reaching to #3 in the charts in 1969. Dionne sings about the angst many would be actors, actresses, singers, dancers, etc. must feel about not making it big and as stars in the industry in Hollywood. The second verse, which I have posted above, is also repeated in the fifth verse shows the angst about getting stuck in L.A. and they are a bit depressing while also being set with an uptempo beat.
