Song Parodies -> Recordings -> Mikey Squirrel, 'Mikey The Squirrel's Night Before Christmas' Comments

Dec 24
a parody of "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clark Moore
A hilarious parody of the classic poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas". This fully 100% original animated video tells the story of a cartoon squirrel as he gets a visit from a worn down Santa Claus, and relates how Christmas has changed through commercialism.

Somehow you and Jeff got the same performance number when you submitted, which means they entered the database at the identical time (it's the only way that can happen). . .congrats on being the first parodists to manage the same performance number at the same time. . .I saw you two in the latest comments, and even though your parody was on the front page as a link, I couldn't get to your comment page, it took me to Jeff's. So I edited yours, and then Jeff linked to yours. . Oy, I scrapped both you guys and resubmitted you all together. . For future reference, Chucky appointed me as the Recording Section Editor, just let me know and I'm pretty prompt most the time;) Merry Christmas Mikey.

Thanks Dave. I was wondering what was going on there. I guess it's an honor that I share with Jeff being the first two parodists to get the same performance number. Merry Christmas to you as well!

(POTQ) Well, because it's more on performance than video, I have to judge on audio only for the POTQ to be fair and equal, however even without the amazing animation, this was hilarious. I thought you handled the poem well, and you turned what as a write looks average, into a great recording. Don't have a lot of improvement ideas for you because you did really really really well with this.

Idea: 8 - - I've heard many different takes on TtNBC, but this one was great as well.
Lyrics: 9 - - Very funny, and you kept it interesting all the way throughout.
Singing: 8 - - Actually, that's for the spoken lines as it's a poem not a song, but as I said before you have a great speaking voice.
Backing Track: 8.5 - - Not really sure how to rate this - you used a few different scores of music, but the overall effect was very good.
Video: 9 - - Hats off to you for having the patience and skill to make a great video, one that fits your parody to a "t".
Sound Effects: 9 - - Used well and in the right amount and places IMO.
Editing/Production: 9 - - Nothing extraneous to distract the listener/viewer, and the video played in time with the music.
Overall: 9 - - The recording does lose a bit w/o the video, but that's because the video is as good as the parody itself. Overall, outstanding work.

An amazing video, and you have a pretty great singing voice. I don't know how you made this but it was a great cartoon. I wish I knew how to do a video like this. Absoutely brilliant!!!

The video was incredible, the vocals and effects all worked very well, and the lyrics were well written. Awesome job!
