a parody of "Home on the Range" by Higley/Kelley
Larry Miller, who owns half of Salt Lake City, pulled the film "Brokeback Mountain" from his megaplex right before it was scheduled to screen. What a drama queen. - Robert Lund

Hyrum Young - January 11, 2006 - Report this comment
Pretty funny. The theaters that are showing it here are pretty much filling all the seats at every showing. Must be all them "gender identity disordered" types coming in from California or New York traveling through that are filling all the seats, since there aint no gays here in ZION (Mormon term for Utah). Larry has enough money that he can afford to be a biggot. The rest of us live in the 21st century. Song pretty much shows the predominant Utah culture as a bunch of close minded, homo-phobes; which is pretty accurate. Welcome to Utah set your clock back 100 years. Hyrum Sandy UT

Belated thanks, all.

Hyrum: With a name like Hyrum Young, I never would have guessed that you're from Utah. Heh heh. If you don't already own it, I highly recommend the CD "OLYMPVS REX" by The Sons-in-Law of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Grrreat stuff all around, but especially for locals, who will catch more of the lyrical references. There's a track on it called "Cowboys Loving Cowboys" that now seems amazingly prescient.

Gary: I hope you played it. I am (or would have been) honored.
